It seems that recently a lot of stories have been surfacing regarding gay teens committing suicide. The video below is part of a project to spread the word to those hurting that, "it gets better."
Recently, Ellen Degeneres also offered a plea for people to get involved and help stop the bullying which leads to these tragic events. (You can watch her video here.) I don't think this is the time for the church to stand up and start talking about whatever the narrative may or may not say concerning homosexuality. Right now, people dont need to hear another voice, they need to be listened to, they need to be loved, they need to feel hope again and know that it gets better.

Good for you, Matt, to support a controversial cause! All people are God's children and deserve to be loved, regardless. Was this one of your points of contention with the LCMS? I bet! Let me know if I'm right, I'm curious.
ReplyDeleteIts not about a cause, a doctrine, or some other issue, its about people. I dont consider my points of contention with the LCMS to be any different than points of contention that I have with other denominations. But in the end we are all a family, no matter our views, and that is what is paramount. Leaving the sem was about maintaining my own integrity. I still feel the LCMS to be the closest thing to a 'home' denomination that I can find. I just needed to leave the nest, to spread my wings and fly the way my instincts tell me to fly.
